Things have been quiet on this blog, mostly for the obvious reason that I haven’t been doing any writing. Or anything writing-related at all, unless you count reading for the Australian Shadows Award. And apart from that reading, I haven’t been reading anything much at all. I haven’t even really been reading my usual blogs.
And up there is the reason why. Liam will be six weeks old next week (already!). These weeks have been difficult, but in general, things feel like they’re getting a little easier. Liam is settling into a loose routine now (which I’m certain is going to change, now that I’ve said that). I’m still sleep deprived, since he’s still waking a lot at night, but it doesn’t feel quite as bad as it was in the beginning.
And now as I type that, he’s half waking up from his nap and grizzling. Naps during the day are glorious things – I look forward to them getting a little more predictable and longer (he’s a fan of the cat nap) so I can start getting some writing done again. That will probably require some better sleep, too. Ah well, it’ll all come eventually.

This is the first time I’ve properly checked in to Tweetdeck since my wife & bub came home from hospital on about Jan 10th (: Typing 1handed while trying to get her to sleep. In short, I hear ya!
