Writing:

Brain wasn’t really having much of it today.  But I got some decent words in anyway.  That’s where things get tough as a writer – you have to write whether you feel like it (or find the hole in the page) or not.

Real life:

Getting up early was slightly made of fail today.  I did get up slightly early, but not when I wanted to.  Fneh.

No real exercise today, either.  But I did have a totally awesome day, since a particular awesome person came and visited me.  I have been slightly bouncy ever since.

Writing:

Yeah, that looks like going backwards, doesn’t it?  It’s not, really.  I was working earlier this morning, and realised that I needed to change something.  Went back to the beginning, and strated rewriting.  It’s a bad habit, but a useful one.  I edit as I write   Technically, I have more words done, but I’m going to count only the stuff that I’ve edited right now.

Yeah, it’s confusing.  But it makes sense to me.  I know what I’m doing.  Trust me.

And in case you can’t tell by the world count, it’s been a good day in the word mines.  I’m still finding my way into this new world, and the path has become much more vivid.

Real life:

Exercise: Walk this morning, which was slightly unpleasant due to it being very humid today.

Today’s visitors to the garden: doves, Australian magpies, pink and grey galahs and white cockatoos.  It’s been pretty quiet out there today, actually.  Especially when compared to yesterday, when there were at least ten birds in the garden at all times.

I also did grocery shopping, and took a break in the afternoon to mix up some pumpkin spice bread, which is still in the oven.

Remarkably productive day.  I wish they were all like this.  I didn’t fool around with too much caffeine today, and I actually got up earlier than usual.  Maybe the latter makes a difference.  I’ve been thinking of trying to change my routine up a bit and get up earlier, rather than wasting half the morning.  Maybe it’s time.

Writing:

Not a bad day, writing wise.  Which is kind of surprising, since the world doesn’t seem to want me to concentrate right now.

First there was the ice cream truck ringing a gong over and over again.  I’m never going to complain about Greensleeves ever again.  And then the neighbours started in on what sounded like a maraca party.  Well, I think they’re just doing some weird garden maintenance, but I’m going to keep on imagining them with maracas.  Maybe with a pinata.  Yeah.

I did some more cleaning up of the synopsis of Shaede as well.  Just need to proof it one more time, and then I’ve procrastinated enough.  I don’t think I’ll be posting too many details about the submission process here.  If you’re on my livejournal friends list, I have a filter for the nitty gritty.  Though I may get brave and post here anyway. 

Real life:

Now that I appear to be over the miasma of infection and crap that’s been sticking around for something like three months, it’s time to get the human suit back into something resembling working order.  This means exercise and a decent diet (most of the time…heh).  I managed a nice walk today – the weather’s been nice the last few days, hovering around 30C.  It’s going to get hot again next week, so I’ll have to rethink what I’m going to do.

As things stand, I’m going to shoot for the absolute minimum of getting some kind of activity in every day, even if it’s just rebounding for five minutes.  And hopefully I can stave off any major infections and flares this year.

Writing:

I’m still working on getting into this book, hence the lack of forward motion on the draft.  I ended up writing at least twice that today, but erased a lot of it.  I think I have the beginning now, so hopefully I can keep on moving forward.

I’m committed to writing a crappy first draft, it’s just finding my way into it that’s the problem.  I’ve been stuck in editing mode for ages, and it almost feels weird to have to switch over to being creative again.  It’ll get there. 

Real life:

I’m not as tired today, which is a bonus.  I was trying to do without relying on meds, and while I can, in theory, it means that I’m not productive at all.  Sigh.  Stupid human suit.  But I get there in the end.

I don’t think my brain managed to get out of bed today.  Very slow day, but I got to my goal (exactly!).  It’s something.

I’m going to aim for at least 2k each day, and hopefully more – I want to get this draft churned out as quickly as I can.  And then it will be back to editing something else for a while.  A plan.  I has it. 

Real life:

Cleaned the house.  Tried to stay awake.  My back decided to seize up yesterday and is still tender today.  Ouch.

Writing: Slow, but it got done.

Real life: The human suit is acting up a bit.  I feel like I’m getting sick, but don’t seem to actually be coming down with anything overt.  Which means that it’s probably just the usual issues acting up a bit.

Writing:  I think I’ve finally found a way into this book, which makes me happy.  I have my protagonist’s voice more or less, which makes me even happier.  Everything was beginning to just sound like a soap opera, and it’s much more interesting now.  Yay!  And I got just past the 20k mark, which also makes me happy.  

Real life: Cleaned the house, did laundry, watched a bunch of Six Feet Under in the background of writing.
